Rachels' Seamstress ServicesFAQ's All styles on the Rachels' web-site, except where noted, are drafted from many years of sewing experience. Patterns are not sold at this time. Q. How do I measure my child's head circumference?
Using a measuring tape (in inches), measure just above the ears, around the head. This is the head circumference. Measure the same way when ordering an adult's hat/cap. Q. What is the time period from when I place my order to when it is mailed?
Different times of the year determine the turn-around time. For example, a month before Easter is the busiest, along with October thru December. Busy times require up to four weeks. Usually the summer months are slower and I can usually mail an order within two weeks. If you do need your item by a certain time, please do let me know in an e-mail. All items are hand-made...a word not found too often these days. With merchandise being bought in today's time, most are made from factories in large quantities, many overseas, and we have been accustomed, as consumers, to purchase our merchandise and goods immediately, and in some cases with overnight delivery (the miracle of the internet).
When ordering from Rachels', much attention and care is given to each item(s). From the inspection of the fabric to ensure excellent quality, to each stitch sewn, it will take a bit longer to receive your items(s) vs. if you were purchasing from a retail store. I will always do my best to accomodate your deadlines.
When your items are received, you can be assured that it is the highest quality available, and will stand up to many wear and washings and in many instances, can be passed down from one family member to another. If you are not satisfied, please let me know and I will make every effort possible to make your experience a happy one.
Q. Do you sew wholesale?
Not in large quantities. However, if you wish to place an order for a school play/event, store sales or similar, I will work with you and offer a discount on items made by Rachels'. Q. Do you sew custom orders? Plain and not-so plain (but modest) dresses for women and girls
Alterations of basic clothing Equine/Equestrian clothing, inc. repair and alterations
Home and Yacht curtains
Custom-made bedspreads
Costumes/period correct attire for historical plays and re-enactments.
What do I not create?
Evening and Bridal Dresses (but I will alter these items). The reason being is that these items are very labor intensive and for the amount I would need to charge an individual, a dress can be purchased from a Dept. Store and altered for a lot less.
Upholstery. I am unable to sew from 'scratch' upholstery items. But again, I am able to repair/alter these items.
Q. Do you ship overseas?
Yes, only to democratic countries (Canada, England, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, etc...). However, some countries have a Customs Tax that you will need to pay before you receive your item. Please check to see if your country has this tax. Q. How many years have you been sewing? Q. Do you sew Copyrighted Patterns? Questions? |
